CBS and AgBizMK organize seminars on the challenges and opportunities of Global Gap certification procedures

December 24, 2014 - USAID Regional organized on December 22nd in the city of Lushnje, a seminar on Global Gap certification procedures. The seminar was organized by two of USAID Regionals’ agricultural projects AgroCapital implemented by CBS in Albania and AgBizMK in Macedonia. Approximately 80 participants from the areas of Fier, Lushnje, Divjaka and Berat attended the seminar. They came from different fields within the agricultural sector, mainly farmers, specialists from the agriculture directories in these areas, agro processors and input suppliers. Important insights to the seminar brought also the representatives of different standard and quality certifying bodies. Program Director Goran Damosvki and advisor Dejan Mardukov talked about the certification process, compliance criteria, increasing market need for certificated products and brought as an example the successful Macedonian experience. Farmers were interested in the seminar as Global Gap provides them with great opportunity to ameliorate different production procedures.

A round table seminar was also organized in Tirana with participants from certification bodies, professors from the Agricultural University of Tirana, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alban Zusi, Professor Tokli Thoma, ADAMA association, AAC Lushnja and CBS staff. Deputy Minister of Agriculture Alban Zusi congratulated this initiative and said that the government will be very supportive regarding the standardization procedures, by collaborating with the private sector for the control of agricultural products.
