USAID / CBS Brand Albania Project Stages Learning-by-Doing Trial Runs in Five AgroTourism Farms in Shkoder County

USAID’s Brand Albania initiative in collaboration with USAID/ CEED AgroTourism Albania project staged a Learning by Doing Trial Run to test agrotourism activities and gastronomy offers in the newly refurbished agrotourism farms located in Shkoder County.

The activity was put together by 5 out of 6 farms that USAID/CEED project is transforming from agro farms into agro tourism destinations. Learning by Doing Trial Run took place in Shkoder County on October 16-18, 2018.

The trial-run led by international experts of Brand Albania was joined by professional filmmakers from US and Mexico shooting a documentary on sustainable tourism for National Geographic Open Explorer platform as well as Stepitup.world initiative.

During the three-day trip, the expanded team dwelled into local experiences ranging from fruit and vegetables picking, juice and jams processing to traditional leek pie preparations and wine processing.

The exercise was put together to help the hospitality providers shape their truly authentic offerings for visitors seeking to experience ‘living like an Albanian’.A documentary about these five agrotourism providers will feature on National Geographic Open explorer platform during November 2018.

Brand Albania Learning by Doing is a three-part series of workshops and activities organized to support the agro tourism industry and to provide the participants with practical skills and ideas to develop new tourism offerings in agro/ gastro and experiential tourism.
Upon the successful trial run, this activity will culminate in a Learning by Doing Retreat featuring new gastronomic and agro tourism activities for invited guests, such as international trade partners, travel journalists or Albanian tourist agencies that may have an interest in introducing the new experiences into their tourist packages.
